A Smartphone replacement company devised in Manchester is going from strength to strength.
Loanmeaphone.com was thought up by friends David Silvera and Martin Lever in the summer of 2014 after bemoaning the modern day problem of being without their iPhone.
David, who has a background in IT hardware, was remonstrating to his friend how difficult it was for his sister to find a replacement smartphone as her phone had to be sent back to the manufacturer for a 14-day repair.
He said: “She was desperately grilling the internet to find a short term fix, but her efforts were ultimately fruitless
“Loanmeaphone was primarily set up to plug that gap; to provide a short term replacement for smartphone users in distress.
“Customers can alleviate their stress by contacting loanmeaphone and scheduling a substitute smartphone to be sent out to coincide with their own phone being fixed.”
The enterprising firm, based at Hollinwood Business Centre employ four staff and offer all of the most popular smartphones for rent including iPhones, Samsungs and HTCs.
Typical rentals are taken for two weeks to cover the period while the phone is being repaired.
Rentals start at £14.99 for the first week with discounted pricing available for subsequent weeks.
David said: “The process is refreshingly simple. Submit your contact details and handset requirements on a form on the website and set a time to be called back.
“All handsets are free to be used on any UK/European or US network so customers can keep their current SIM card knowing that compatibility won’t be a problem.”
Loanmeaphone.com also offer B2B services.
Martin, a chartered management accountant said: “Our rental smartphones have been used in a variety of ways ranging from scanning tickets for entry into a festival, to being used to showcase the connectivity of a new Audi.
